Why don't you consider let's players as video culture. They clearly influence it, that much you can't deny.
Pewdiepie being the face of gamers on youtube and a millionare by playing video games alone, he transformed the entire horror genre for better or worse he clearly was an influence. not only him but tons of let's players get asked to advertise or sponsor and even help games get off the ground.
Sure let's play threads don't always talk about the games.
However waifu threads don't, game that talk about guns more than often talks about the real life application of guns. Similarly let's play threads don't always talk about the thing they did in the game but the person who did it/
