After weeks of my PC hard resetting while gaming, it turns out this piece of shit is the culprit.
It's not even 2 years old, Corsair can suck a dick
>>
>>384973872
EVGA PSU son, ten year warranty.
>>
>>384973941
That's the one I'm getting tomorrow, EVGA 850w for $95 at Best Buy. Never buying Corsair again
>>
>>384974073
Yeah, good call. When I built my PC I did a fuck ton of research on the psu and spent a little extra money on it because I have a complete phobia of something happening and frying everything, and the fact it's what powers the entire system it better fucking work. And mine does, year later not a single issue.
>>
>>384973872
Corsair PSUs aren't for high end PCs
>>
I hard reset playing xiv yesterday, I'm panicking a bit right now, it would be the second time I would have to change my psu in less than 2 years, first time I had a corsair, I'm using some random psu I forgot the name of now.
>>
>>384974325
I realize that now. I got a 1070 a little while back and it instantly started giving me issues. Fuck Corsair

Rule of thumb. Buy heavy power supplies. More weight generally means more copper for keeping the components safe and cool. They generally last much longer because shortcuts weren't taken.

Statistically speaking power supplies are the second most common part to fail in a PC before the first month. HDDs are the first. Usually if your power supply lives for a month, it has like a 95% chance to last 5 years.

What the fuck man. I only mention it in this thread because I have basically OPs PSU and some people have said that was their problem with this card, but mine used to work fine until I updated the drivers. Tried setting MSI afterburner to keep constant voltage and nadda. I don't get why it would reboot while idle and not under load.

Unless you have 1080's in SLI and and an i9 odds are you don't need that much power and it's a waste.

Me. So far, pretty good. Bought it because I needed for the GPU, also because """RGB"""

Also good, because you can use the app to shut down the PC away from home.

Stop using it. The last CRT monitor I ever owned, one night it made a noise. You know that *THUNG* noise big CRTs made when you powered them on? Like that, but much louder. Then the screen shut off and immediately came back on. I shut that fucker off right quick, and didn't use my computer again until I'd gotten the cash together to replace it.

I advise you do the same. RAM or hard drive acts up, that's one thing. When your PSU puts one toe outta line, you replace that thing. When it starts smoking? Get that shit out of your rig posthaste, before it burns down your house.
>>
>>384974325

Depends on the line. Corsair doesn't make PSUs, it receives them from many manufacturers. Their PSUs range from non-gaming to tanks.

Vidya rigs should NOT have VS and CX PSUs. The rest are fine for vidya.
>>
ALWAYS go gold certified with the PSU. OP went bronze like a moron and got burned.

So I'm a complete dumbass about PC parts and shit. I built mine with my PC-knowledgeable friend holding my hand for everything. He's overseas now so I can't talk to him and Google hasn't helped me at all so I'll ask here.

I got the Razer black widow ultimate keyboard last year on black Friday. Fine keyboard, does everything I need it to do, except one thing. When my computer is booting up, or rebooting after a BSOD and it asks you to press enter or wait the 30 seconds, my keyboard has absolutely no control. I'll press F2 to enter BIOS settings or whatever to try to do it myself but it never works. No key inputs work until I get to my password screen and idk how to fix it. But this is the only keyboard I have so I'm kind of stuck. Any advice?

Sorry for text wall. tldr keyboard doesn't respond on boot up, only at password screen

I have a 1000w corsair i gpt 2 years ago and it runs great.

>>
>>384975869
Dude you are literally fucking me. I'm running a Tri-X R9 290 and a CX750 and after one of my driver upgrades this year (not the most recent, I think it was around May) I started rarely getting BSODs whenever the display driver would reset (mostly when switching user/logging off and very rarely in some games). I've updated drivers several times since then and each time the patch notes have mentioned the issue and said it's fixed, but it still keeps happening to me.

I also semi-rarely get square inch checkerboard artifacts that are tied to the application and only go away if I fully close and restart whatever process they're tied to. I thought it was something on my GPU like the VRAM being corrupt, but now I'm wondering if it's because of this PSU.

Anyone know of a test for PSU integrity, or is it just a case of "you won't know it's fucked until it's already too late?"

How old is your card? Could be your card is dying. Try finding really old drivers, if that works, upgrade step by step. Check release date of your card, google date + GPU + driver.

If you want a silent PSU you have to get a good deal more than you actually need so the fan never kicks on.

You don't even need 750W idiot. Are you running like 10 fucking oldschool HDDs with 4-card SLI and some crazy stupid RGB lighting system? Most of that is just going to be turned into dissipated heat.

They don't fail under high-end performance stress exclusively but much earlier. So granted, you can't call you PC high-end with one of these in it.

buy EVGA for the warranty alone

motherboards are not as weak as they once were so if your psu was to die suddenly and you're worried about the other components being fried then stop worrying

More then that its had 3 revisions for breaking down, if you anyone buys it they are retards. The CX are basically left over PSUs they just refurbish. Most PC stores probably have older revisions pilling up so they are selling them off cheap and dumb people who don't do their research will buy it up willy nilly not realising they are buying a broken revision 1 or 2.
