Switch is a mixed bag. On the one hand I feel like it's the console we deserved but never got in 2012, on the other hand, I'm happy with the decisions Nintendo is making so far. The UI isn't bloated, there are good games released just about every month, and it's truly portable this time.

Time will tell if this will ultimately be a huge disappointment. I'm skeptical, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

only thing is I wish the thing had better battery. splatoon 2 low brightness lasts me around 2.5 hours straight online. not like I'll ever play it online outside of the house but a better battery would be ideal.

Compared to the Wii U at this point in its life, the Switch is kicking ass as far as the library is concerned at the moment. Wii U launched with fucking New Super Mario Bros, when the 3DS got NSMB2 mere months prior. It's probably the most underwhelming thing they could've done to sell what was already a console people honest-to-God thought was a machine they already owned, especially since NSMBU does jack shit to look like anything other than an NSMBWii hack running in Dolphin.

I just got one recently for Splatoon 2 and I double dipped on BotW which pained me a bit. Although it does run better than the Wii U version. It's so nice being able to go around a town and stable without getting sub 20fps and the great plateau had none. Still some dips but nowhere near Wii U's.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to Xenoblade 2 and Hollow Knight(although I don't think the devs care about porting it any time soon since they're like 2 guys only).

I'd say, though not an exclusive, the Switch verison of thumper is the best verison of the game for HD Rumble alone.

So far, I cannot say the same for ARMS. As I said, everything about Max Brass was already programmed in the game- his animations, his character models, his attacks, his sound bytes etc. There is no reason why he couldn't have been playable day one.
The devs just restricted access to him for a month, then granted player access so they fool you into thinking you got "new" content.

Dodged a bullet there. So far the only game I want is splatoon 2 so the switch being out of stock everywhere is not so bad. Although the best time to play splatoon is at the start if it was anything like the first game.

And Splatoon's initial updates unlocked stages you can see in the single player for the multiplayer. It was the later updates that started giving all new stuff. Arms only had 1 update so far. They also have a handful of devs that where working on the old titles and still to this day work on the same franchises which could be seen like they know what they're doing for every specific game they're making, take Aonuma for example, the only Zelda games that you could argue that are "Bad" was Skyward sword and MAYBE Tri force heroes. Some will remain on Wii U. Yoshi's Woolly World and Hyrule Warriors already got ported to 3DS (with 240p eyerape) so they won't be ported again, the definitive versions will stay on Wii U. Xenoblade X won't get ported because it would be competing with Xenoblade 2. 3D World would compete with Odyssey.

I can agree with that, although the newer entries in the franchise acknowledged that flaw and addressed it to some level by giving characters better stat growths overall. The whole aspect of some units being shit without knowing much until it's too late can help wit replay value, since if you start the game over, you can do the campain knowing that the character you used before was aids, and try some other unit

Fire emblem isn't for everybody, the first time I realized there was perma death in sacred stones, I was pretty fucking pissed. But I picked it up later and thought it was kind of a cool system since it encourages you to not play like shit. I used to always buy consoles on day one but after listening to /v/ and basically what happened to the wii u and vita I have stopped doing it entirely. Going to wait until all the good games come out if any do and buy one then. Bonus is I might even be able to snag a limited edition console at that stage.

I have my wii but why would I drag it out when I can just play it on my new console? I can also play gamecube games natively with hacking. Xbone, WiiU, and the fat PS3 are the only 3 consoles with 3 gens of backwards compatibility

It's the best local multiplayer box of all time. Honestly.
You get a great Mario Kart (8D adds more items to races and really only gives you battle mode), and Smash 4 which is either the best game in the series or the second best, depending on your opinion of Melee, and of course Mario U, Luigi U, and 3D World multiplayer are all a good time.

But then you get a ton of other local multiplayer on the WiiU.
