Stop looking for traditional MMOs, play something like Path of Exile if you want to throw your life away.
If you just want to have fun, try some shit like Elsword, the pvp combat is a rollercoaster but it can be unbalanced and even cosmetic items give stats.
Elona+ is a great singleplayer sandbox grind but it's hard to get into it. I wasted a good 4 months of my life in it and is probably the only timewaster I don't regret being invested into.
Cataclysm DDA is a pretty great survival sim but also hard to get into.
And then there's Dwarf Fortress.

Honestly if you want to kill time your best bets are singleplayer games.

I've been playing on and off since 2012 and it used to be that people would at least team together to kill monsters.
Fast forward to now and you can't even level up by playing Corsairs, and they removed Kumasylum altogether, which were the last things left I'd call entertaining in this game. Can still play level 65 Corsairs and Gridiron but ded game so ded queues.

This is actually an awful game that is nearly dead in Korea and the NA/Europe version as cancelled. There's a half-way English mod that's available for it. It was made by ex-developers of Tera and even shared it's animations. But, the gameplay was tab-target that did badly in testing because it was slow and unfun. Then they tried to make it an in-between, which resulted in a weird, mess of a game. No idea why they went old-school, clunky tab-target. The designs are beautiful, the beast race looks amazing. Graphics are nice too, but it was a failure in Korea almost immediately and they couldn't even get enough players for the CBT.

Is there any hope for the game at least? I used to play it when it was good, I don't play it now but I would still like to see it succeed. This makes me very sad to hear. You had to ask around and actually talk to people to put together a party, and since roles weren't always strict tank/dps/healer you had to talk about what you were going to do. Since all you have to do now is just press button, receive party, you don't even need to talk to anyone, you just do your role and everyone wins.
