Was pic related the absolute pinnacle of local multiplayer and co-op story mode fps?
MP, yes tied with halo 2
Perfect Dark had a much better (co-op) story mode though
Yep
Possibly the most underrated old-school FPS ever. The fact that people can pretend stuff like Dook 3D is good while ignoring TS2 is insane.

>most underrated old-school FPS ever
Hmm, I remember back in the old days that every playstation related magazine reviewed this game with near perfect scores, and that's why eventually I bought it.
Now I have feels about these times when magazines and media told us the truth about games and were not paid by publishers...
>tfw you won't live the ps2 era again
Future Perfect was arguably the better version overall, however 2 just felt much more /comfy/
I preferred Future Perfect but 2 is pretty good.
>>384925253
No that was future perfect
>>384925253
Halo 3 is way better
>>384925253
this game was so sick, the best part was all the speed runs and challenges you had to do to unlock all the characters for multiplayer.
>>384926159
>>384926217
>>384926245
FP has garbage MP maps
>>384925253
yes
>>384926159
FP was more linear but had much more character and personality, but that's not to say 2 or even 1 lacked character.

Hospital map + virus + friends = devastation
>THE FUCKING MONKEY out of nowhere always giving you the virus
>>384926297
Never played 2 before so you're automatically wrong
Not only the best MP game but also the sickest music.

>>384926297
but it had better controls/aiming
>>384926359
>Hospital map + virus + friends = devastation
>+ friends
>friends
>implying
Absolutely the best couch multiplayer I've done in my life was with the Time Splitters series
>>384926297
The game was still better though. If you didn't like the MP maps you could just make your own. It's not a deal breaker.
>>384926463
>sickest music
>mexican mission
WRONG
Return to Planet X, motherfucker
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SF1yMNJ38kstill a great one though
How did this ugly piece of shit with no cutscenes, barely any story and questionable settings (cyborgs everywhere in 2005) get a charming sequel with great artstyle, cool locations and short but well directed cutscenes in only 2 years?

It must be the only FPS that wouldn't work on PC.
>>384927982
I remember playing it on pc, at least it was functioning apart from the fact that the audio was bugged (unusable...).
>>384928673
It's never been released on pc so no, you don't remember that.
>>384928894
Of course I was talking about emulation, with ePSX2e if I'm not wrong
I feel that the timesplitters games are too twitchy and loose for a controller.
Do they play well via mouse on emulators?
>>384930556
It works but it's not great because it snaps back to the centre. And vertical/horizontal movement accelerates at different speeds, making it feel quite awkward.
>>384930556
>timesplitters
>twitchy
no
The problem with releasing it on PC is that aiming is too easy with a mouse and keyboard. You'd end up with a game where everyone just grabs the most powerful hitscan weapons like the sniper rifle and it would ruin the whole feel of the game. Much like what happened to Halo.
TIME TO SPLIT
2 had better multiplayer and challenges
FP had a better campaign and story.
>>384926359
Let me tell you you haven't truly experienced fun and fear until you've done hospital and virus with friends. Those were some of the most memorable days in my life.
>>384934378
>hnnnnn...DDIIIIIE
you gave me feels.
Also, it was also better with weapon restrictions: shotgun only ayy
>>384934378
Build a labyrinth + dark as shit + virus
Glad to see Timesplitters thread here an there lads. What was your favorite last stand spot for virus? We used to camp on top of the zeppelin's fin after arming ourselves beforehand. Aztec temple has a great spot for that too, with a decent chance to kill infected bots before they could close the distance.
>>384935217
I remember in FP going to the frozen lake and snipe the shit out of bots being comfy from the distance.
Modern port when? I just wanna be able to toss on my Switch or PS4 and play TS with the lads and Ladettes
>>384936089
>favorite map
>favorite sniper rifle
Damn I miss Timesplitters. Not that I can't play it anymore, but playing 4 players local coop on a 4:3 tv isn't gonna happen anytime soon.
>>384925253
>memory card full of custom maps and missions I was so proud of
>no friends to play them with
>>384936890
I can't understand why Crytek doesn't do it. REmake has been resold on several platform for the last 15 years and keeps making money. Meanwhile fuckers can't even do a half-assed port to save their company. Just why...?
Post characters you always played as.
I'll start.
>>384937242
|The shitey thing is that they've clearly got it working. Homefront on the everything has a timesplitters easter egg of the first two levels. They got it working, abet all gutted to fuck and back.
>>384937430
This little fucker.
>>384937570
Don't remind me of that. Fucking wasted potential.
>>384938131
I wonder if someone could mod the game to include those levels back in
>>384927089
My parents who were super religious at the time of this game saw that she had slut written on her shirt once and they made me stop playing. I was also 8 at the time.
>>384938661
That sucks. I played it with my dad, he had no problems with none of the games we played
>>384938634
Wouldn't they need the original code and know the conversion method and the know-how to do it? Anyway we need an official port from Crytek, I'd buy that shit instantly, as long as it's reasonably priced.
>>384938661
Too bad the "Saint" pic didn't exist yet to try and sway their opinion.
>>384938926
That sounds awesome, anon. I had a friend who played with his dad and that looked quite comfy.
