It's a massive crutch weapon and it tends to draw shitters. Aside from big physical numbers, it doesn't have much of anything else going for it in terms of speed, range or moveset, which is pretty poor.

Kirk does splash damage, and can get some absolutely disgusting damage output with full blunts. It's blunt potential makes it shine. Nice vertical and horizontal smashes that stun most enemies, even bigger ones. Other weapons outshine Ludwig's, the starting Saw Cleaver can carry you no problem thanks to its serrated bonus and gorgeous tricked moveset which is one handed and has knockback/pancake.

Also for fuck's sake, Bloodborne has so much more fun to offer than generic greatsword. Use the alien monster arm or giant pizzacutter or animu scythe or sword cane whip.

Blunt Wheel is slower than Kirk, save for its dash-R1. Moveset is as important as raw numbers and Kirk has a great moveset. Hell, they gave Bloodletter the vertical smashes from it.

I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.

Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better recognition in history threads.

This is my favorite build out of the entire series. Nothing was more satisfying to play with. These are what claws are supposed to feel like in a game nice heavy and fast. You were rewarded for going berserk and landing combos with a beast meter with each hit. Not to mention the journey just to get this build. I used the steak driver to practice the short range I was going to be having making it much more difficult. Also chest armor is for pussies.

Going from BB to DaS3, the biggest thing I missed was actually being able to use whatever two weapons I wanted without worrying about weight. I get that it makes sense for weight to be a thing, and before I played BB I would've said that removing weight would be a terrible idea, but the huge weight of big weapons was the number one constraint that had me sticking to more boring and more practical options.

It's honestly a hard boss low level with beast claws I'd say you just gotta get good I did it maybe level 60 and it took a while. It's really a skill based weapon I'd just advise you to wear charred hunters clothes to help a little bit with the fire damage.

i am in the middle of a playthrough
went with cane, got really comfortable.
but i am a rapier guy in Dark Souls games.
but man... this Reiterpallasch rapier sure is disappointing.
the L1 swtich just puts a gun on it and replaces your R2 instead of adding anything.
it feels REALLY underwhelming despite doing okay damage.
but the cane also does that damage and has more fun and variation.
reiterpallasch killed my drive to continue playing a little bit.

There are a lot of very strong skill weapons. My two favorite ones are the Rakuyo and Church pick. Both fucking kick ass. But all the Saw weapons scale well with skill and are amazing also.

There are plenty of options. The Reitter is actually not a skill weapon. Its a bloodtinge and skill hybrid weapon. Its meh unless you have a lot of both.

yeah, if you've got access to chunks and have a weapon upgraded to more than +6 you'll probably be fine. you can get the beasthunter saif pretty early in the DLC too, it's skill based and fun as fuck.

I'm always a STR guy, but I recently gave a Skill build a shot. Maxed Cane and Evelyn. My first playthrough, I could just blunt my way through everything. Partying and whipping the shit out of enemies just feels so fucking good.

I also had no idea how ludicrous pistol damage could get. I literally shot Emissary to death.

Is this a meme build? Feels so good, it must be.

Its really more balanced around endgame, but you can definitely get through earlier on. BL60 should be enough to kill the first couple bosses at least. Ludwig is the second hardest boss and the biggest roadblock.

Loran Silverbeasts anon, the regular mobs in the Nightmare Frontier. Which is an area in the main game.

They drop Fire and Bolt gems. The other anon was suggesting ignoring chalices on an arc character and farming these guys for Gems instead.
That anon is an idiot for the following reasons
> can't access Frontier until you reach the Forbidden Woods, that's a long time without gems. You can enter chalice dungeons after BSB.
> they drop Waning gems, which your weapon has 0-1 slots for. Chalice fire gems are Radial which your weapon has 2 slots for
> they only go up to 7%, you can find an 8% fire waning on the ground and chalice gems go even higher

If you are dedicated enough you can have 3 16.5% Fire gems before Vicar Amelia, or 2 9% and one 8% without much effort at all. Loran Silverbeaats are never worth farming unless you need another Waning Gem for a secondary weapon. And since you unlock Loran Chalice after Amygdala, you might as well just wait and get 18% Waning elemental gems from that.

You can acquire ~15% fire gems infinitely from nightmare frontier enemies, so yes.

Pure arcane gems aren't really worth it unless you're getting the top tier ones.

The only thing that annoys me about BB is that most of the weapons come like right at the end of the game.

I want to do playthroughs with specific builds, at least give me a large variety of weapons in the first quarter of the game.

Most souls games have this problem, ironically I think DaS II has the most choice at the start, since you can sneak your way into the fog forest and shit.

I think a simple fix would be allowing you to start a new playthrough whilst letting you carry over weapons/spells/etc. That way you can use endgame weapons from the start whilst keeping that level/upgrade progression in place.

I'd say Kos Parasite and Burial blade(maybe Rakuyo and bloodletter as well) are the biggest offenders in that area but for most other weapons Amelia is the final step in story progression. That said its still a giant pain in the ass when 2( or 4) weapons in an already small weapon pool are locked til virtually end-game

I've never, ever understood people using Kirkhammer. It's slow and it doesn't really do good damage for the speed of the weapon itself. EZaxe outdamages it every time, has better reach, and better rally potential.

Arcane was by far and away the most fun I've ever had in Bloodborne and possibly a souls game. Aside from a bit of mandatory chalice farming for good gems, it didn't take all that much effort and at a certain point in the game you just get infinity fucking tools to work with.

A lot of weapons are available within a couple boss fights. I would say the bigger issue is that a lot of the most fun weapons are DLC only, and are truly late game only unless you are a super pro that can take out 3 bosses there at SL20. Most people arent though.

Rakuyo and Bloodletter ARE the biggest offenders to me. Bloodletter is virtually mandatory for a Bloodtinge PVE playthrough and having to get so far into the DLC sucks. Rakuyo is slightly less of an offender because there are so many solid skill weapons, but it still sucks. Church pick is slightly less of a problem but still a bummer. The DLC weapons you can just mad dash to are the ideal ones. All should have been that way.
