Capcom actually took a lot of feedback from facebook groups and the like to see what they were looking for in a RE2make. General consensus was that they should basically do what they did with REmake. So I'm expecting that, but it will probably be in the RE engine and not prerendered.

It's modern Capcom so I'm expecting them to do something that will please no one.

My guess is it's gonna be built off REmake assets.

Pre-rendered backgrounds will be created with Capcom's new RE-engine, cutscenes might be as well.

If they were using pre existing assets it wouldn't be taking this long.

I really wish Mikami was still around to supervise.

I like RE2 but it's hard for me to get excited for this remake. If we're going back to the classic style I'd rather see a new Outbreak.
