How are you supposed to do this? He's the first boss for God's sake. Dark Souls was way more fair.

You're probably trying to use dark souls dodging mechanics. Make use of jumping and aerial attacks.

I kind of have been, but I've been jumping over his blue electric things and then he hits me with his jumping attack (though sometimes I can dodge it when he's still only at his below half health version) and I have gotten used to rolling through him a lot, but it's like as soon as I feel like I'm making progress he pulls something out that I can't predict. I feel like I'll be able to knock him down in the next, oh, ten or so rematches, maybe, but... it's just not been very fun or even intuitive, tbqh.
