Having no turn rate means you can just kite people really easily, which I guess casuals are into. Turn rate just adds another factor to balance the game, and also punishes you for being out of position because you cant just instantly take off in another direction.

I unironically enjoy them because I grew up on Warcraft 3 custom maps in my teens and kind of acquired a taste for AoS style eventually. But even then, I just have a binge on one every now and again, because they're just like all the other WC3 custom maps were - a minigame, not a full game in their own right, and obsessively playing a minigame over and over getting absolutely autistic about learning all the little caveats of each character and ability is pretty fucking sad. I really don't get the people who actually do play them like that.

I enjoy them, but then I genuinely do fall in the autistic spectrum, I enjoy learning and memorizing all the little details and numbers, all the timings, the abilities, the stats, all the hidden features and bugs you need to understand and then applying it all by beating some other person. I also enjoy the interaction with people, I (surprise surprise) don't really enjoy interacting with people IRL, but online works fine, don't have to deal with people face to face, and I can just get up and leave whenever I feel like it, even mid conversation.
On the flipside I do at times get extremely angry when I feel like things aren't going "according to plan".
