Most people around here either don't actually play games they then talk about at all, play them but actually pay ZERO attention to them, or play them, actually pay attention to them, but immediately forget/ignore their experience with it because the "board culture" here trained them to irrational, extremist, radical, contrarian, exaggerating - in general confirm to some kind of identity expectation role.

That is why you do get so many "extreme" opinions around here. It applies much more to negative attitudes (people will exaggerate/cling extremely to anything negative about a game because on average, hating something is the "cooler" thing to do).
A lot of people: in fact posting majority in my experience, literally completely obsesses over being spiteful and hating things, absolutely regardless of any reality. They create a completely unrealistic expectations, exaggerate any possible flaw (an existence of a flaw is usually considered immediately invalidating anything positive of a game), actively look for things that justify their pre-concieved anger - or just flat out don't play the game or ignore it and instead chose to parrot most popular negative opinions/criticism they see around here.

It's all very sad if you watch it for a while.

Just like with other entertainment mediums. Because you'll find the most common complaint of mediocre games is that it has "good ideas but bad execution." Bad execution makes mediocre games. Not good execution.

Actually, I'll take the /v/'s opinion on Infinite, to be honest. I found it pretty terrible. Call me a hypocrite if you want, but I did really find very little to actually like about that game. And I really did want to enjoy it. I approached it with very cautious optimism since I really loved the art direction and tone, and I hated it before I even checked what /v/ thinks...

I think The Witcher 3 is by far the currently most obvious fucking case of these attitudes around here. In fact, the insanity and absurdity and massive mental distress that this game causes by it's popularity just makes ANY discussion of it completely impossible. Interestingly enough it seems to play both sides: overexaggeration of the positive and of the negative almost equally, creating this kind of so god-damn volatile, absurd, idiotic discourse that I just tend to close the thread the very second it is being even mentioned.
