I just spent 45$ on this,
why does /v/ hate it again?
I still have yet to play it.

Don't ask before playing it. You won't need to once you do.

You sound like the type of person this game is aimed at. You'll love it.

Well I loved Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Pacing is glacially slow. Characters are flat and unlikable. Floods of boring quests mean that it feels like there's simultaneously nothing and too much to do. Shitty animations and extremely low stakes in the plot make it feel like a garbage b-list movie in the mass effect universe. Combat is surprisingly really good but there's about 1 part combat to 5 parts roaming around aimlessly scanning shit. Mediocre level design and huge open areas just make the game into a "follow the marker" simulator a la any ubisoft sandbox game.
Also call me petty but fuck the layout of the tempest, I don't know how you're supposed to get around in any respectable amount of time. Crew members move around all the time but never /do/ anything.
I really like Mass Effect but this doesn't feel like a ME game. Even though they did their best to emulate the ME style, it's not ME if you're role-playing as suave space Nathan Drake.
