The content tends to feel watered down as if to fill the space the game insists on taking up. You walk more and do less and the shit you do is never as in depth as a game that takes care to craft more curated scenarios.

Good example is taking MGSV:GZ and MGSV:TPP. Ground Zeroes is the best fortress between the two games by far.

Similarly, BotW would only benefit by taking its core mechanics (the physics based shit is fantastic) and focusing it into 8 or 12 dungeons designed to test the player's problem solving, exploratory, and technical mastery of the game.

And on this note, the locations can and often do look great but for the most part the game utilizes that space simply by making you traverse them and do nothing with vast stretches of those areas. They overstay their welcome. There's no focus.

The game is Zelda: Meandering Edition. And the devs knew it. They knew the space had to be filled so they padded it out with tiers of weapons and armor AND made them consumables so they'd never be redundant by the vast world offering them too much.

When you make a game so large that you can't sufficiently fill it with -unique- rewards not too far apart from one another you have a fucking problem. A problem the very first fucking Zelda avoided while still being a Goddamned sandbox.

It's a great game but a better sense of focus would have only made it better.

How? If anything, Master Mode encourages you to be more conservative choose your battles instead of picking fights with every enemy you see. I find that I'm either ignoring enemies ot sneaking around them. Even if I do want to fight them I'll make a campfire and wait until night time to Sneakstrike all of them in their sleep because all-out brawls aren't worth breaking weapons and using up food and arrows unless there's a good reward for taking a camp (which is just more weapons, drops, rupees, and food).

I never found weapon breaking to be a problem after I completed the trials and got my buffed master sword. It lasts for a long ass time so fighting is almost always worth it to me as I am a hoarder

Also, I have a question about the Master Trials. I know that the Master Sword will stay at full power of 60 after the trial, but does anyone know if it still runs out of energy after prolonged use? Before the DLC I was using the Master Sword to slaughter guardians at Hyrule Castle to grind for ancient parts and it still runs out of energy even at 60 when you're fighting things affected by the Calamity.

I can't count the number of times I activated flurry rush when I was too far away or too early to even be hit by the attack.
Meanwhile, I've had flurry rush consistently fail to activate when I dodge at a reasonable time and place. I'll avoid damage, but I won't activate flurry rush.

Do it. I was up in the air about it for a while. But the bullet the other day and have been playing master mode. Quite a bit more challenging than playing normal mode. Getting wrecked by white alt enemies in a couple of hits.
I started a new game and was expecting to have to overwrite my normal mode file, but master mode has its own save.

The attack where he runs and smashes the ground is one of the hardest attacks to avoid, the safest option is to either sprint away as soon as you realize he's going to do the attack, or use parry since it's easier to time. You have to your flurry rush with perfect timing so you don't get hit by the shockwave in the middle of your flurry rush.

The issue is that a lot of the enemies in BOTW can go from hitstun to attack with very little wind up or animation.
It's really hard to tell when you actually have an enemy stunlocked.

Well it depends. Sometimes Moblins and Bokoblins with spears do a really quick attack that's pretty much impossible to react to, other times they do an extremely telegraphed attack with a huge window for flurry rush. The issue is they made their attacks way too slow though, every time they run up to you they have a really long wind up that can be interrupted by attacking them. Bokoblins attack much faster and can tank your attacks while they're attacking, same with Moblins who won't flinch to most of your attacks.

First time I fucked around in Hyrule castle I managed to enter Zelda's bedroom/study before anything else. That was before I had managed to see more than like two memories and no guardians. The only way you could actually believe this is if you gave up right at the start. Once you've upgraded your armor, you realize that it really isn't all that hart. Most enemies don't even remove 1 heart with level 3 soldier's armor, and you get more powerful weapons more often than on normal mode, so it all works out

The big difference is that you get lots of damage multipliers for doing combos, like freezing before smashing, headshots, flurry rushes, things like that give you lots more damage to offset the higher health pools
