It's pretty fun.

A fun time. Play on at least hard, the lower difficulties are too easy and will teach you really bad habits that won't work vs other players.

Empire is a good faction to start with. They're the most well balanced and straight forward. No gimmicks, just classic Total War shit. Most of the other factions have strong gimmicks that you need to play around.

It's a good game, but flawed. Mods fix a lot of its problems though (like Darthmod)

It's hugely fun

Some mechanics will cuck you (like public order ) on certain campaigns but mostly it's a bit like Heroes of Might and Magic III, crossed with Civilisation, crossed with the typical total war huge battle simulator.

Flanking will win you most fights, as will proper management of your ranged and artillery. Monstrous units are ridiculously fun but can be fucked over by halberds or anything with an anti-large bonus, check your unit's stats and traits and your enemies.
