Any vet worth his salt isn't dumb enough to play VQ3 with its atrocious netcode, bad balance, and slow gameplay. At the very least they'll use CPMA for OSP or QL.

I didn't say it was both, but that it will end up being a copy of VQ3 or CPMA. CPMA is also very overrated, and doesn't reward as many playstyles as VQ3.

VQ3 is the fastest of all the mainline Quakes on account of

1) Killing being much easier in general, as you spawn with a very good weapon (MG, which does 7DMG/bullet in VQ3) and depending on the map you'll have the Rail

2) Strafejumping taking after Q2 i.e. being more streamlined and not as finicky as Q1's

You will get fast, insane sprees in QW on account of Q1's nonexistant weapon balance, but duels are still slow-looking in it (look at every 1v1 Cistern demo for QW), and the average joe gameplay will be less fluid and high-flying than Q3's easier SJing and jump pads everywhere

Q3 was designed from the ground up to be the most "exciting" Quake MP game. It was made faster on purpose (and easier to tap into that speed than ever)

Great arena shooters are already out there and are playable as ever and even more thanks to most people having a pc that can run them max, so why people is gonna start siddendly caring about them for some generic, identity lacking, yet another Q3 clone when they could play great games like UT 2004 or QL? It won't, but Q1 does in fact have SJing, it's just "contained" within bhopping and done slightly differently (it won't work well with a diagonal, like it will in Q2 and 3)
