So how can a warrior sort of class use magic? My magicka is very low, so I've started putting points into intelligence, but is there a quick way for me to get a lot of magicka?
I can barely cast any spells, and each skill takes an insane amount of time to increase. I made a 1-magicka costing fire spell that does 1-2 points of damage by touch, because I couldn't effectively cast any other spell, and even with Destruction now at 20 I still miss with it 7/10 times. And it just goes up slower and slower. How will I be able to get alteration up to use levitation, or mysticism for mark/recall, if destruction takes an age to level up?
If I have to pay for training, which levels do the magic skills become effective? I don't want to train from level 5 up to level 100 after all...
A side question: Why is sneak so shit, and when does it get good? It's a major skill but throughout all of my time playing the game, I have only raised it from 30 to 34. I currently have Long Blade at 100, and my other major skills in their 60's. Is sneak even worth it, or should I just not bother?
Without specializing in any kind of magic, grinding is going to be incredibly slow. That's not to say it isn't possible.
In the meantime, you can look around for equipment that increases maximum magicka and spell skills. It's a crutch, but it will help you along until you can more comfortable grind.

You train sneak. If you are making a caster you better be breton or high elf for the mana increase.

I'm a redguard unfortunately. What should I train sneak to?

Unfortunately I haven't specialised. Thanks for the advice. Do you know of any easy to cast alteration and mysticism spells I can try?
