How many characters do you think you can play reliably? At your rank almost everyone is going to be a toxic sack of shit even by Overwatch standards so if you can't be flexible or git gud you won't advance. Try to have at least two characters you can play for every class.

I've been playing for a long time. I can play a lot of heros, I actually think my problem is that I play too many diferent ones and don't get super good at a smaller group. I'm just trying to rock soilder for now as he's versatile.

Get yourself some decent friends to play in premade.
Or, to be a bit more realistic, play whatever support you're best with and lock your choice in instantly until someone notices and likes your dedication to the role enough to invite you to a group and carries your ass.
