with split screen multiplayer games my friends and I always had a problem because it would almost always support 1 more or 1 fewer player than the number of present friends.

Split screen, especially back in the day with smaller TVs, was always terrible, everyone staring at a tiny shitty corner of the screen.

Multiplayer games really have been getting shittier over the years. It's amazing how good Halo 2-3 multiplayer was. It not only allowed local multiplayer, but it allowed you to take all your local players into online matches with you. It was so fucking good.

nevertheless, I really don't think I'd want to play any of the current modes, even Salmon Run, with splitscreen. The game is really strongly focused on being able to see shit, which I imagine is part of the reason the gimped splitscreen mode in the first game didn't even offer much of a reason to ink the ground.

The real reason I think they didn't include splitscreen, though, is because it probably would have been difficult to get the game running at the nearly solid 60 fps it does during gameplay.
