Street fighter V is still about strategy I'm so tired of this dead horse debate.
Just because execution was made easier does not make the game not strategic. In fact, it makes it more strategic, because you know if you don't have a game plan you'll get max damage punished every time now, as opposed to sf4 where only God tier players had the execution to make that possible.
Street fighter never had in depth mechanics. Parry, counter hits, focus are it

Poor marketing decisions.
Selling the game in chunks, promising a lot to be done in the future for free and not really delivering or not living up to the hype killed the mood.
No arcade, no reason to keep playing it day one as soon as you got shredded or quitted online
Source: me. Bought it day one for 30€ (a good damn deal, if i must say). Didn't touch it ever again after a week. Fighting money? Lack of arcade game? Shitty players online? Fuck nigga, I'd rather go and search for an Alpha 3 copy and play the hell out of World Tour mode instead of coping up with your shit.
