Yeah, Tokido attacked his weakest point that night outside of the game. He fucked his mind. As soon as Tokido did that taunt combo it was all fucking over. I can't believe anyone would want a game that didn't come with the full roster of current characters. No, I'm probably not going to play as every character frequently, but I would certainly play as them all a few times. First, to find the character that I like the most, and later for some variety. Not everyone is some wannabe pro player who just plays with one character exclusively. It's fun to toy around with the whole cast. Also, it's a really good way to learn how to play against other characters on the roster.

This is why I'll never understand League of Legends players. Why would anyone agree to play a game that they'll never have access to the whole roster for (unless they shill out hundreds of dollars).

Can confirm. I've got a group of friends on campus that gets together every Saturday for fightan and the few times we've played SFV it's just pretty basic games where I mostly stomp with Alex & Birdie.

When we play Ultra the games are a lot better. I LOVE playing the Poison/Guile matchup, so much going on in neutral. I also like playing Hugo & Hakan more than any grappler in V (until Abigail was revealed at least), not that Alex/Birdie aren't fun.

I admit Im not "Hardcore" enough to get the nuances but it was less a stretch from 3 to 4 as it was 5. Practically an entirely different character with this bomb shit

Combos in fighting games have been a mistake since they went from being a bug to being introduced as an actual feature. Since the early 90s, combos have only been getting longer, more routine, more tedious, more MANDATORY, and yet devs know that combos are such a mistake that they get offset by the damage scaling that every game uses now. A bandaid for a gaping wound.

At this point, the scaling in many games is so overbearing that a double digit hit combo with multiple specials linked together in it will do less total damage than a jab into a single special.

It wouldn't matter if a character has two or two thousand unique combos; players will just figure out the one or two optimal combos with and without meter and use them endlessly.
Fuck combos, go back to the days of pure fundamentals. Reset this twisted genre back to when it was a fight between two players striking at one another's openings, not "taking turns" and "execution".
