Any general tips for the first game? Just got to Chapter 2. Vizima's pretty cool. I just learned that the fight with the Beast in Ch 1 would have been far easier if I got Specter Oil before the fight. That shit took me like 10 tries because I was so unprepared, and skipping through the dialogue before the fight every time sucked.

Quen is your friend - use Quen, love Quen. No matter how strong your enemy is, Quen will still absorb a full instance of damage before it breaks so it's literally always worth using. People even use it to kill high level enemies. Even if you ignore signs you really shouldn't ignore this, especially since it's Alternate Mode upgrade is even better (a shield that heals you, meaning you spend less time in battle stuffing slow HoT healing items down your throat)

At the fourth level of Combat upgrades you can unlock Rend and Twirl which give you some extra combat options which are a bit more fun than just +damage. Worth unlocking even if you aren't using other red skills.

You can wear the stuff you find in the world, but you can also find recipes to craft Witcher Gear that upgrade alongside you and are generally stronger.

Sell weapons to weapon sellers, armour to armour sellers, books to book sellers, etc. etc. That being said, don't sell everything you find, some items such as Swords can be dis-assembled at blacksmiths - if an item can be turned into Dimeritium or gemstone items like Rubies/Sapphires then it's better to break them down. Check what all items can be broken down into as some of them are more valuable when you do this.

Acquired Tolerance is one of the best skill points you can spend - later on. It's not very useful early for obvious reasons, but keep it in mind as it will massively boost your toxin resistance as you gather more recipes.

Gwent is fun, the earlier you understand how to play it, the more fun your playthrough will be. Remember to return to White Orchid and find bowlcut man next to the Inn, as he sells some good cards.

Ciri is an individual and not a child, it is very important that you remember this.
