Picked this up for the vita. What am I in for? Any tips and tricks

It's not that hard, it's just grindy.
Don't get attached to your heroes. They will die.
Tip for easy money and heirlooms: recruit 4 level 0 heroes from stagecoach, run them through an apprentice level dungeon with 0 torches (full darkness gives better loot), then when you're done or have fled, dismiss those heroes, rinse and repeat.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer, anon.

analyze the risks and decide if you push forward, focus damage on one enemy instead of trying to spread it all around, and spend your money wisely. also feed this thing a torch if you're feeling lucky

It's not hard, you can't lose actually. You have to grind your ass away tho'. It repeats bosses, enemies and dungeons. Once you finally learn what party comps work, it becomes a slog.
