It was good, it was just unbelievable levels of grinding that ruined the experience for many people.

I have an autistic little brother who is all about arbitrary grinding and collecting and even he was too exhausted to grind for everything.

If the currency drop amount was twice as it is and they got rid of all of those upgrades locked behind completing 100% of an area then it would be a much better game.
