I would actually say that, because of the 4x time multiplier and also because of the balance changes, the game is actually MORE automated than before. Honestly, for me, it isn't I hate Vaan, but I hate Ashe. She steals the spotlight, she orders Balthier's crew around, telling him to keep taking her to places to get artifacts, never really pays him back, and she can't get over the fact she completely lost the fight to Archadia. Not only that, but she goes on a quest to essentially find fantasy nukes and use them on Archadia, even if that means killing millions of innocents, simply because her boyfriend of a year died.

Red/Shikari is actually good since you get a dagger tank that can actually deal damage/heal/set ailments.

Monk/Foe is kind of viable if only by sheer virtue of it giving Monk access to Heavy Armor + Genji Gloves.

FF12 was so boring and it wasn't just the auto combat. Even with full control over the fighting it was just boring. Attacks felt like they had no impact, and it takes far too long to kill weakling enemies considering the maps are filled with them. Then you have everyone being copies of each other towards the end because that has been FF for a while now. And huge maps with nothing in them but trash mobs, leading to 2 second dialogues before walking back the way you came
