Why would anybody want to leave the Milky Way Galaxy in the Mass Effect Universe? I was replaying Mass Effect and the codex says only like 2% of the Milky Way has been explored, why would they need to travel 2 million light years to start a new life?

The person who funded the Andromeda Initiative knew of the reaper threat so made sure that life would survive no matter the outcome of the reaper war.

Although regular people had no reason to go to an entirely new galaxy, but there are hundreds of quadrillions beings in the Milky Way so it's reasonable that millions would be down with fucking off to another galaxy for whatever reason.
