Project M is my go to version of smash as a casual player, and they did a good job modding it, but 95% of the work was already done for them by the Brawl dev team, them trying to make their own game was a mistake. I'm not trying to detract from what they did with Project M, they did a really good job there, but they have no experience actually making a game, they have experience tweaking values to balance an already existing game.


A game like this isn't going to succeed without characters people know about. It's the reason Marvel v Capcom is so popular compared to Guilty Gear or Blaz Blue. And why Dragon Ball Fighter Z actually has quite a bit of hype behind it.
