The team making it is passionate about it, and they had been trying to get approval to do a REmake of 2 for a few years before it finally happened. Just because Mikami and Kamiya aren't there doesn't mean it can't be good. I mean look at what Mikami has done since he left, The Evil Within was ok, but nothing special. If they actually did make it first-person then the series is pretty much dead for me, and this is coming from a long-time fan from the beginning. The only way I would play another RE title would be if they remastered Outbreaks.

RE7 whilst it wasn't the end of days, it was a reboot so it had an excuse, I seriously preferred over the shoulder or fixed cameras.

Classic RE games won't return. You can only pray for some decent indie developers to make a game with such formula.

I don't like this Walking Horror Simulator that RE7 became, so I'm rooting for RE4-5-6 style of gameplay. I also know that more open ended nature of RE4 won't come back either - so I'd like to see their take on a new action oriented game with great mercenaries mode and that mode from the original RE2 where you have to collect bombs and shit.

I really hated what happened to Resident Evil after 2. I liked when they were puzzle and exploration games where using weapons was a last resort.
