I summoned NPCs on all my playthroughs. I'm not above it. If you choose to ignore something that assists with bosses, cool. But why the attitude?

I played this game for the first time recently and beat it after an embarrassingly long time. But I beat a lot of the bosses after getting a +15 weapon (great scythe) that I feel like trivialized the whole game even though I am awful at it. Killed nito first try just running up and hitting him a bunch.

Did I actually miss out on much using an OP (I think) weapon?

Also I don't understand what other armour is for. I played wearing Anastasia's armour the whole time after she was killed to remember her and never felt disadvantaged.

The most fun I had with the pve of dark souls was using cheat engine and raising my ng+ to 7 on a fresh character.
Bleed was my friend in that run.
Iron golem was nearly impossible until he killed himself.
Armor was worthless.

I'm so glad I played without guides or the update that put yellow marks everywhere telling you what to do (took me a week to find the invisible floors in the crystal cave). It was tough, but more rewarding than any other game I've ever played.
