I'd argue DR2 had better characters. DR1 had some good ones, but the fanfic dude was shit for example. DR2 had more complex characters for sure, even without the twist ending.

DR2 had a lot more content, but a big chunk of it was filler minigames that were just "pick the right choice" in DR1. I hated a lot of the changes, like the summation where you make a comic made sense in DR1 but in DR2 now you have the full fucking book open all at once, and you might have clues just for the end of the book at the start, which fucking blows. I like piecing the story together as a summation, but when you're forced to do it out of order it's shit.

Also the "pick the 4 words" thing was complete shit in the English version. "Meat on the Bone" may by a dish name, but there's no reason why they needed to have you put those words in order like that. It was the first fucking one, and I expected to answer the question not just give the key word, so of course I answered in a sentence: "On the Meat Bone". Of course, they refused it, really the whole system of that "minigame" is shit in ENG.

I had 2 big pet peeves with 2.

Why bother introducing the "soda-out-the-eyes" thing for Nidai? I figured it would be integral to the plot, ESPECIALLY with everyone literally fucking starving to death. Like, they didn't even bother explaining it away unless I missed it. Couldn't the cast just, like, survive on soda for a few days? It wouldn't last forever, but it wouldn't be as bad as the make it out at first.

Also, I was disappointed about Ibuki's end. I loved the character, and really expected them to have a twist where someone just flat out said "hey gullible Ibuki, wear this bag and hang yourself", but instead they just have it be a regular killing? Meh. They tried to be like "oh no gullible Ibuki couldn't stop this!", but there were so many easier ways to have a twist in that situation. I did really like the use of the word bugs on my re-play.

She's down to earth and motherly, which is very bland compared to most of DR2's wacky cast. But that's why I like her. She's just a sweet, ordinary girl.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I guess in another game she'd shine, but she's surrounded by Ultimates so she's one of the least special of the bunch.

Anything you guys disliked/liked about the characters? I didn't like Nidai's lightning eyes, if they were rare they'd be fine but they're in fucking all of his portraits. I liked how expressive and off Ibuki's portraits were, they were wacky as fuck but really made her shine.

Heh, yeah, TeruTeru is absolutely a dick. I thought he would be the first to be killed because of how overly creepy he was and how he didn't have a standard "normal-person" size design, but what actually happened worked out pretty well too. It just seemed like they were setting him up to die fast, even with his FTEs.
