ITT: game time that would be cut in half if back tracking wasn't a thing.
Just picked up the trilogy last night and now I'm told I have to run back 2 zones to get the gravity suit. I'm drunk as hell and this seems like an hour trek
You just started and you already at gravity suit?
Back tracking didn't bother you up until this point?

Me: prime was flawless
Me after reading this and remembering that backtracking was a thing in this game: p-prime was... f-flawless
>>384553315
People really like running back. Makes them feel the world is more real. Without running back all the time Prime would be a pretty average game. It's weird, but that's how it is

he's """"""""""drunk""""""""""

Just give me an item or environmental object that sends me back to my ship
>>384553315
>I'm told I have to...
Bitch
>>384553315
>genre is based on backtracking and getting a feeling of the world
>let's cut that
maybe is not for you?
>>384554519
Do you not remember the game has a built in hint system that guides you on where to go?
The fact that he knows it's the gravity suit makes it a bit suspicious though...
>>384553315
And yet, I have no problem with the backtracking in this game since combat is the focus of the game. And the combat is amazing.
>>384554519
This.
Stop being a bitch and turn off the hint systemwhich I didn't because I'm bitch made
Honestly I don't mind most the backtracking in prime, it's really comfy and let's you get to know the world better

/thread
>>384553315
Had to use a guide for this since most of the time didn't know where to go :/
>>384553315
backtracking is part of metroid and incoperated into the level design with shortcuts/elevators
>>384554826
now the backtracking in this game was fucking ass. Still a great game
>>384555658
don't play the sequel
Daily reminder that if you didn't play Prime with hints turned off on your first playthrough, you didn't play the game the way it's meant to be played and you never will because your casual ass couldn't play without handholding.

You can just use bronze mirrors to teleport to areas. Only have to backtrack once. I of course just hoof it because I want the experience and like juggling ninjas.

this goes for every game Tbh
still my fav
1) There's no position on the world map from where it'd take an hour to get to the location of the gravity suit. You're just sensitive to backtracking. Keep going and you'll see that it won't turn out that bad.
2) Make yourself useful on your way there by looking for shortcuts / artifacts / item upgrades such as missile containers and energy tanks.
3) Turn off hints.
4) You may be annoyed by Prime 2 as it has the most backtracking. Prime 3 may become your favorite, as it has a lot of its backtracking streamed. (You can, for example, fast travel via your ship.)
5) Have fun! You're playing great games!

Valhalla knights
That game was a literal walking simulator
>get quest to kill 10 somethings
>spend 30 fucking minutes walking to get to the quest area
>kill the 10 things in less than 2 minutes
>have to walk back to town>devs realized how much cancer this was so they added portals in the sequel
