That sounds like that Archie is still making Sonic comics, but they're discontinuing the SATAM comics and starting a new comic series out of Sonic IP with more emphasis on the established characters and stuff. This means that characters and stuff from SATAM series won't appear in the new comics of any form.

Fuck. OP. You just reminded me that when I was a kid, I got a Sonic the Hedgehog comic where he became Super Sonic. For some reason, I thought this comic was special, so I placed it in a ziploc bag and put it in our freezer. Then I forgot about it. Several years I found it, the pages completely frozen and ruined, and leaving me questioning why I even bought the comic in the first place.
