It's "solid gameplay" is considered too poorly documented and obtuse to newcomers so it was all streamlined away starting with atelier shallie, removing every aspect of the 3D atelier games that made them unique in a sea of samey renaissance-themed anime JRPGs.

Time limits? Gone.
Time-based story progression? Gone.
Warm color palettes? Gone.
Fixed scenery cameras that made up for the incredible lack of game budget? Gone.
Now you're open world and they don't have enough money or time to shit out a fleshed out open world game so everything looks empty all the time.
That warm sense of accomplishment after spending 4 hours collecting ingredients for just one difficult item synthesis? That's gone too.
