Coming from Smash 4 to Melee.
Any tips? I installed Faster Melee, is netplay already setup for me then?

pretty much, make sure you play in exclusive fullscreen, it has less input lag.
Do you already have a controller adapter? If not, buy the official nintendo adapter, or the 4 port mayflash adapter. Other adapters are bad including 2 port mayflash.

Official Nintendo, already installed the drivers.

sounds good, faster melee should be properly configured already. There is the version linked on smashladder, but there are also newer versions available from the faster melee discord. If you are playing on ladder then just use the version from the website. We could play a bit if you're on west coast.

Ah okay, I grabbed the link from their discord, will probably have to downgrade.
I'm EC unfortunately. There's no scene in PA that's within 2 hours of me. All I got is a Smash 4 monthly that deleted my comment on their facebook page about hosting a Melee side event.
my suggestion is to play a real fighting game instead of this baby trash

Good idea, but i am a baby so i like baby games

Have fun Anon, try to get used to the physics first then learn L-Cancels
Only use Faster Melee for netplay
Also, take a look at Project M. It's fun plus it comes with great tools for training (debug mode, L Cancel % + visual effect, revised AI, ...)

That video is a year old, public opinion has since shifted in favor of FM as a program, Dan Salvato also took back his opposition from a software standpoint. I agree that the circumstances were bad and that the FM developers are kind of assholes though.
If you want to practice offline, open a netplay lobby and set it to 5 buffer. This is usually a good approximation of console on crt, but it depends on how good your monitor is. Getting a 20XX iso is also a good idea

this is an iso of the newest 20XX version. It has some useful features for practice such as l cancel display and you can use color overlays for action states.
It is better to play on console if possible of course, but thats not always an option.
OP, be sure to install 20XX 4.0
it even got SD Remix implemented result extra-polished Melee gameplay.

I have 20XX installed on my hacked Wii. Not sure what version, probably over a year old.
It's sitting on my floor hooked up to my CRT. Thanks anons.

Stick to one character. Study pro gameplay. After you get a feel for the game you'll notice that you are significantly better with all characters and you can try other characters then.
