HOW? How is there a thread about this game? Just yesterday I was telling my gf about this and had to spend 10 minutes trying to figure out the name.

PF Magic still worked on 5, but that was their last petz game.

Quite a few forums. I'm not into the community but it's a good place to look for hex editing discussion.

Not sure actually, I still have my original CD-roms. You might be able to find something on the forum above, I'm sure there are copies floating around the internet.
If you get it working use PetzA with it which basically lets you control the pets' age/care sliders, instant breeding etc etc.

I love all the crazy looking dragons and stuff but the best ones have to be the shelter dogs and cats that come in a million variations, like the real thing.

I remember getting a Dogz PC game disc with a Wendy's meal i believe, or perhaps it was Arby's, but it was an actually fun and addictive game.

Interesting demo video from 1998 about the AI in Petz and the challenge of endearing computer characters to audiences. Apparently some of the crew went on to make Facade.

I remember always seeing these in the games section of my local department store.
I always dismissed them as shovelware since they were always positioned at the end of the shelf with the bland simulators and hidden object games.
Were they actually good? Did I miss out?

Petz 1-5 developed by PF Magic were very sophisticated games for their time. The later Ubisoft titles were developed by entirely different people and were mostly subpar nintendogs knockoffs
>>
Holy shit I completely forgot that this was a thing I played. Goddamn, I remember playing this before AoE2 was a thing.
>>
>>384485607
Modding community didn't really take off until petz 3. 4 was pretty meh, 5 was a decent game and pretty much the peak of the series.
Oddballs was ok though barebones, the one with creepy baby gremlins was pretty shitty to me.

It started out as pretty much the same thing as a tamagotchi, you could pet, feed, and groom away fleas. I forgot which game started pet clothing/dress up. Petz 3 added a pretty awesome breeding system with a ton of variables you could alter. Petz 5 expanded everything and made training and breeding more sophisticated.
