There are too much of it. Lazy developers can't put everything into a game so they make you read to understand "lore" better. Even tho it's absolute nonsense that you forget right after reading most of the time

in dragon age / mass effect games the writing is so fucking bad it's cringe inducing so i don't bother. in prey i read everything i could find

good amount of humor mixed in, and the whole world was really tied together. it wasn't just random shit made up on the spot, you could figure out what one log meant based on what you knew from others
