Is there ever a time and place for 3D fighters, or is 2.5D fighters always the way to go?

Depends on the game. For example, budokai 2 is obviously superior to xenoverse, but pales in comparison to BT3.

First of all
>tekken 7 is a 3D fighter
>is there a time and place for this
second of all
>shitting on the Budokai games
And third
Dragon Ball Xenoverse is more of a fanservice title than a 3D fighter. I've fought with friends on it and we've agreed to never use our Time Patrollers but that doesn't stop me from fucking them over with final flash Super Vegeta 2.
On the 2.5D question... eh. It has its merits. On one side it's pretty cool to see things that were once 2d or low poly becoming higher poly and way cooler (seriously had joygasms from the new EX Layer trailer.)
