ITT: games you found hard as a child and you can't remember if they actually were or not, maybe you were just young.
>>384394634
I'm getting PTSD flashbacks from the construction site level.
all 3d games were hard for me as kid because I couldn't into that perception and wanted to puke if played more than 2 hours
Pitfall the Mayan Adventures for Super Nintendo
>>384395023
Me too.
>>384394634
I remember being really frustrated that you had to pay to save and that you only got to choose one reward after beating the boss. I never made it past the Ice levels.
>>384394634
Als toy barn level was lit.
>>384396356
Never played it myself but I remember all reviews saying it was hard as fuck and compared it to Ghosts and Goblins
>>384395441
I still have this today. Can't play first person games or games with a low FPS and low FOV.
>>384394634
I recall the second game being easier than the first.
>>384395441
>tfw remembering Onimusha only had d-pad control
Find me a more fucked puzzle for a kids game than the Lion King monkey throwing level.
>>384396634
truly the ghosts 'n' goblins of it's genre?
>>384396634
Well, there's a reason why they are comparing it to Ghosts and Goblins. I think it's literally a sequel or spiritual successor.
Just listen to the music:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmxARmxAWZA
Both games also has the protagonist go into their underwear when they are hurt.
>>384394634
I have this game still. I should probably see if that's true.
I never figured out how to beat the Slime Trash Can boss. Also I didn't have a memory card so every time I booted up the game I put in the cheat code that unlocks all the levels.
>>384395023
>Trash can green good monster boss
>Panic as a kid
>Turn off the PS1
>I didn't have a memory card either
Looking back I was a pussy but holy shit that made me scared
This fucking piece of shit
>>384396982
For the first couple of years all PS1 games were d-pad only since, y'know, it didn't have any analog sticks
>>384397321
Onimusha is a PS2 game
>mfw i suck at all the games i played and completed when i was a child
was this hard ?
i just remember tasering people until they went on fire and dying a lot
>>384397483
Right then, I'm off to bed
>>384394634
The Jaguar chase level in the Emperor's new Groove game. My reflexes were wag too slow as a kid so I actually had my dad mash the buttons while I steered
>>384397718
No, it was extremely easy even for a kid. The auto-aim system help you even too much
>>384394634
Been seeing lots of posts about the PSX version of this game- only played (and loved) the N64 version when younger.
Were there any real differences between consoles?
>>384398205
oh well, i must have been shit or disinterested
>>384394634
the platforming in this game had some tight jumps that were very punishing if you fucked up, so I can understand your opinion. At least it didn't have fall damage.
>>384397048
>COOL!
>>384397302
Havent played it since childhood, is it really bad? I would get stuck in that super fucking spooky pueblo level. Eventually I just unlocked new levels by guessing level passwords
>>384394634
>>384399316
I got stuck on that level as well, but I never got any further or used any passwords.
I just remember the damage you took was brutal
>>384396892
I remember playing and hating this for GBA. It was really frustrating.
>>384399485
How does anyone have trouble with these puzzles?
As a kid I replayed the first two worlds and started a new game at the racing level.
I played the Sly Collection recently. The car controls like hot garbage and I only beat the stages by the skin of my teeth, so maybe i was on to something.
>>384399878
I was 10, that was the only puzzle that stumped me, had to use good ol' gamewinners.com on dialup to get the answer.
adventure island always hard game for me.
mortal kombat 1 and...
gta vice city helicopter mission. I was not kid when playing it.
>>384394634
hmmm
>>384394634
I fucking loved that game
>>384397281
I was same but n64
>>384397718
Some parts were challenging such as that stealth mission in the Catacombs.
>>384394634
Easy as hell even when I was 5. Are you a casual OP?
>>384394634
beat this recently and it was pretty easy
>>384395509
yes, jesus christ
>>384394634
The SNES Toy Story game was hard as fuck.
There was some Batman game on the SNES where you fought Joker while jumping around on roller coasters
fuck that
>>384394634
The game isn't that difficult but it's clunky and outdated as fuck and can be EXTREMELY frustrating at times due to sloppy controls and all the good stuff. If you have even a little bit of good memories about this game you shouldn't try replaying it today.
>>384401619
This fucking game. I haven't tried beating Oddworld as an adult but I remember it being borderline impossible when playing it as a kid. Is it really that difficult /v/? Should I give it another try?
>>384402648
That was Batman and Robin on SNES.
played it all the time but never made it past the first level. also the best theme song of any n64 game
fuck this game
>>384398337
Here you go, mainly the N64 lacked FMV and redbook audio.
https://youtu.be/-mjufXFChPo
The Dreamcast version is the best of the time, having FMV cutscenes, redbook audio, better resolution and graphics. Might have better framerate as well, but can't say for sure.
>>384402828
I played this too but fuck me early 3D that wasn't SM64 aged so badly
It had an alright fun multiplayer too if I remember right
fucking carnataurs
>>384402845
I am agreeing with you. Fuck that game.
>>384399982
>had my brother do this for me when I was a child
>he had to do it for me again at 24.
This race was complete bullshit.
Who framed Roger Rabbit.
>>384402863
neat
>>384403079
This was released on PS2 too? I only played the PS1 version when I was like six or seven years old and I haven't touched the game ever since. No other memories of it other than being confused as fuck all the time and not making any progress whatsoever.
This fucking part of level made me cry
It was so hard and I spend many hours trying to beat this
When I have beaten this part it was hallelujah
Holy shit the nostalgia, this was hard as fuck like everything else because i didn't speak english back then so i had to try until something worked.
Also >>384402863 thanks dude, i played the PC version but it was the same as the PSX.
>>384394634
I don't think I ever beat the final boss, got stuck on the final dungeon because the trash mobs were ridiculously strong.
>>384403463
Dr. Brown framed Roger Rabbit
>>384394634
The second world had you use a reefblower and the controls for it were awful. For this reason I always thought the game was very difficult.
Coming back to it a few months ago I made it through no problem, but the reefblower still controlled like shit. What I completely forgot about altogether was how good the music was. I actually stopped in my tracks because some songs would pick up and just impress me that much.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxEsL893CBw
>>384404231
I think the PC and DC versions are identical and just graphical and audio upgrades from the PS1 version. I'll know soon enough because this thread made me purchase the DC version.
I could never beat the second planet.
>>384394634
somebody put a dark souls hud overlay on that
>>384397281
>dad still reminds me of that boss every time video games in general are brought up
>>384394634
What's the best version of TS2? Dreamcast?
I wanna play it again.
>>384396356
Fantastic series, I really wish they'd at least put it on the PS4. But a revival would be ideal.
Up until a few weeks ago, I thought this game was a fever dream.
>>384406728
Dreamcast
>>384406971
Has this weird thing where the speed of the CPU determines how fast the game is. You literally need to force the game to slow down by another program to play it on PC.
>>384394634
Sup Rockcock.
Fucked you're waifus stinky butt this evening?
I thought Starwars episode 1 racer 64 was really hard as a kid and it kinda totally was in the last few races. one or two mistakes in three absurdly long races and you're fucked basically.
Don't get me started on that one cloud city race where if you fall of this very long and stressfully thin floaty track you instantly drop 7 positions and have to restart.
>>384394634
The reviews even talked how many leap of faith and pixel perfect jumps you had to make
>>384394634
>>384397483
Spyro 3 as a whole was always fairly easy, but this boss was extremely tough when I was a kid.
>>384402790
Oddworld has some sections that are nigh-pixel perfect platforming, and some of the enemy puzzles can be confounding. The difficulty is really well paced for an adult player, imo.
>>384394634
If you played the 64 version probably was legit difficult, the controls were ass compared to PS1
>>384401093
i remember a classmate told me it was way easier to just enter the building and kill all the workers and then grab the dynamite to start the timer, everytime i replay the game i follow his advice
I could never quite understand what the fuck I was doing in this game, but I played it a lot and never accomplished anything.
man did this game get hard near the end
>>384394634
I remember this game taught me how to read. Fucking written dialogue
>>384395023
>Not theTree
>>384402845
I remember getting stuck in the Volcano level.
I should try it again after all these years.
>>384407959
OH Jesus. This game was pretty broken. You'd always run out of gas really quick, one of those games I would constantly rent because I thought I'd be able to figure it out somehow. Also rented Moonwalker a lot because I tried to beat it but it was impossible.
now i think its too easy
>>384394634
Wizardry 8. My party or/and they build were probably shit and game had been getting harder and harder due to enemy autoleveling.
>>384394634
>tfw I actually thought the entire Toy Story 2 game was just this house level when I was a kid
Was so nice to find out there were shit tons of levels after it.
>>384394634
Codename Viper was so frustrating for me I bought a NÉS cheat guide at my school book fair. Boy was my mom pissed. Bitch should have known those Scolastic book fairs had shit options.
could never, ever complete this as a kid. might revisit it one day
>>384411517
B&
Now fuck off and go watch tele-who-gives-a-shit
>played the Jimmy Neutron PC game as a 7-8 year old a lot but never beat it because I was a pussy at stealth shit and also just dumb
>go back, controls are practically unusable
>>384406971
>download PC version because I want to play it again
>turns out I have to set my computer to think it's got only 1 gig of RAM
>>384411517
>mfw I realize this could reasonably be true without anon being underageb&
>>384412621
t. angry 30 year old autist
i'm 18 years old champ. i think i was 11 or 12 when that shit game came out:)
>>384413019
Still man...leave this place while you still can.
