Are any of these fucking shooter games even worth it? It's always just running around on the same 10 maps fighting the same battles.
They should be $20-40 not $60+
The sheer gametime and enjoyment you'll get will make $60 worth it.
There is way too much love put into the game to be $20

Clearly if that's your opinion on what it's like, then the genre isn't for you. I've had great moments in Battlefield and enjoy the gameplay, but if you think it's just the same every time, it's just not for you.
>paid $110 for Battlefield 1 and eventually premium
>have over 110 hours played, play every day, and actually *enjoy* playing it, not just playing it because I feel like I have to
>will play hundreds of more hours because there's 3 more expansion packs coming out with what looks like a shitload of content
I've spent less than $1 per hour for battlefield 1. Most people say the best test to see if a game is "worth it" is if you get at least 1 hour of playtime for every dollar you spend on it. I'll probably end up with at least 2 hours for every dollar I spent before I move on.

But there are many games that are only 9-10 hours that are worth full price

As far as Splatoon goes, you might find it worth your time to play a lot of multiplayer matches to grind coins to buy new gear/weapons. If you also have that competitive spirit, Ranked is a lot of fun provided you can manage your salt if you get outplayed/your team sucks.

Yes, the $1 per hour thing is better as a rule of thumb, and probably shouldn't be taken as a hard rule, more of a guideline. I also can't think of a game that I've paid $60 for in recent years that wasn't open world or didn't have multiplayer that I enjoy. Games I've bought recently for $60 off the top of my head are like overwatch, battlefield, rainbow six, far cry, probably some others.
Then there are games like Little Nightmares; $15 I think at launch, only a few hours of gameplay, but worth every penny to support the developers and support fantastic horror platformers.
