I'd be excited if Arena 2 didn't have the most atrocious story mode ever made (And the first game was actually pretty damn good too).

Assuming this trainwreck even has a story besides "Ragna thought he got off Mr Bones Wild Ride but Arc wanted more money"

Why not? The crossover is going to need villain characters, a hazama/Terumi and Adachi team up seems like an obvious move.
