That must be it. Warped being so easy might also have something to do with it, finishing levels normally, and even going through the secret areas is easy as hell.
The time trials are marginally harder, but that has more to do with dying setting you all the way back at the start of a stage, which can be pretty long.

I still like Warped the most, though it's stupidly easier compared to the other two
