Sports games are one genre that I've never, ever played. Are any of them good?
UFC games

I agree with this anon. UFC Undisputed 3 for PS3 is fucking awesome
I like Baseball Stars 2, Inazuma Eleven, and Riptide GP if that counts.
>tfw out of all the NFL games to remain. It had to be Madden when Blitz and 2K were so much better
They're all pretty good. Most robust RPGs in terms of attributes out there. I like NBA 2k personally, but I'd get Madden if it were on PC again.
NFL Blitz
NBA Street
Backyard baseball
Mario Golf World Tour
Final Fabtasy X
i play NBA 2k almost everyday
3x3 Freestyle originally felt like a successor to NBA Street. Then the developers kept adding more and more to the game, which bogged down performance, and became too troublesome to bother with.

2K was more realistic.
Blitz more cartoony.
Madden is a mixture of both but fumbles and an hero itself
I cry thinking what nfl games for the past years could've been
Madden 2010 and NHL 2010 are masterpieces
The number crunching player/team management autism is great. They take real skill and years of practice to truly pull off the finesse of the controls

You can't get into sports games if you don't actually play or watch a sport IRL.
I've been a lifetime hockey fan and played when I was younger and I have a blast with NHL games.

The Show is good for baseball autists. You can play a single player up from the minor leagues or manage tons of shit.

MLB The Show is an amazing series. I don't know if it's good enough to buy every year at $60 a pop, but you could do worse. Personally, sports games are dead to me until NCAA Football comes back.
I like them when they let you entirely create your own teams and players and logos and shit. PES kinda did this but the last one I played (2015) I couldn't get the fucking custom textures and face replacements to work. Its stupid how they make you jump through hoops to get any decent customization. I'm sure the cup guys manage, but I lack the patience to put up with all the bullshit when there should just be an ingame button to let you just use custom shit.
NCAA games were good til greedy niggers killed it

>EA was threatened by 2K, and rightfully so because 2K5 was amazing
>they throw billions at the NFL for the license
>sit on their haunches and make shit games
I'll never not be mad at this, every Madden since then has a weird mixture of missing features that were all once included in the 2004 or 2005 versions.
Pretty much every Midway sports game was great. Shame there's no market for shenanigan sports games anymore.

ET's rugby league

Why is EA allowed to get away with buying franchises and licenses EXCLUSIVELY to milk them dry with shit titles? why doesn't the industry do something about it?
>>384302352
I don't know enough about anti-monopoly laws but I would assume nothing of the king exists for gaming because it's a shitty, immature industry rife for exploitation. It's still shady as fuck to just buy out your competitors like that, and then immediately make low effort shit games. Still makes my blood boil because around that time a lot of other devs were making great improvements to the football genre or sports but they all died out because people are too stubborn and don't want to play games without real teams or players. Games like 2K and Backbreaker were so fucking good but they couldn't compete with EA throwing their weight around. I cry for all of the amazing games with actual good looking graphics and physics we could have had.

I don't know. But it took decades for EA to release their grip on Porsche licencing real scummy stuff.
