I don't tank mostly because I do not want to be a leader at all but being the leader is forced upon me. Also one of the problems with tanking is the typical MMO player mentality where on day 1 you must know all the fights in and out as well as know all the speedrunning strats.

Queues got longer because there are two shiny new DPS jobs to try. The tanks who quit over their changes are a minority of whiners.

Like you say, the reason why tanks are low in number is because they have group responsibility. If a tank fucks up and dies, it's significantly more likely to cause a wipe than if a DPS does so. People don't want to deal with that, so they just play DPS.

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding it, the only things tied to the combo itself are listed after the Combo Action line, whereas the extra enmity is listed as an Additional Effect on the line before that, so it shouldn't be tied to the combo at all.

What you would do as OT is a quick provoke after enmity is established instead of wasting shirk desu. The MT needs to get a decent lead on enmity though still very easy to do. Tank swaps with shirk are squeaky fucking clean its better to do it safe unless you are with a static then you can do it the way you said for that quick huge boost on enmity.

Possibly true, but bonus enmity is a modifier on damage. If you do it outside the combo then you're only getting 100 potency * enmity modifier instead of 280 potency * enmity modifier. In which case it's just better to do the ranged attack (Tomahawk etc) since it has a higher potency.
