I have never had a problem with tanks or as a tank in XIV. It's either lack of heals or people getting hit by avoidable damage.
There are VERY few mechanics for tanks to fuck up, and even fucking them up rarely leads to a wipe any more than a DPS getting hit by avoidable damage. Less so in fact since tanks have stupid big health pools and enough cooldowns to rotate throughout an entire fight, whereas a DPS will just instantly die.

Most people start off friendly and get more jaded the longer they play. I complain on voice chat to my friends but I've never been mad enough to type it out.

Should I level SCH or AST? AST seems to be the most viable but I hate how crappy their damage is. SCH seems to be less viable but their damage is better and if you level a SCH to 70, you get a SMN at 70 too.

When I heal I only ever commend the DPS if things are going abnormally fast and I can single out a DPS who is doing a ton of damage.

But in the case of AoE pulls in dungeons the speed of the dungeon is also accredited to the tank's pulling so it's a tossup who to thank for it.

I recently started to play healer because of the horrible dps queues.

What I noticed the most after playing for a while that I became much more aware of mechanics. I took note of cast bars and emotes and what exactly dealt damage to me and my party.

When I'm dps I am (and have to be) so fixated on my cooldowns and rotations to get out the maximum amount of dps possible that often times I cannot spare the attention to take note of my health bar. Not even when I was playing tank was I this accutely aware of what's going on.

In my opinion every healer should really play a challenging dps for a while to see what the other side is like, certainly helped me.

I play a healer because it's the easiest job to carry shitters with and I have to say, fuck every other player in this game.

I play a shit ton of WHM and WAR, overall healing is pretty easy. I've found tanking to be more of a pain with dps ignoring mob numbering and just attacking anything, making it harder for me to hold aggro and do what I want.

Healing is annoying as fuck when people ignore mechanics and die a ton, especially if they blame you that they died after taking an easily avoidable 80% health hit. Even as a tank I've found that most melee dps I play with just ignore cast timers and always get hit by aoe circles.

Am I the only one having issues leveling FSH 60-70 ?
I could level 50-60 with unmelded vendor gear fine, but in SB even at 65 with 65 melded gear in 63 zones I still miss almost half of my fishes and I almost never get high enough collectables.

I played tank in this game for a bit until I quit after a couple months. Like the other guy said, lower levels are boring but it gets better once you get all the skills for a full rotation. What I found stressful was doing dungeons for the first time because when you fuck up you wipe the whole team.

No, I don't want to take your dick up my ass. No, I don't think wiping on an encounter is fun because people want to fuck up on the mechanics of a rather simple tank and spank. I've never played a holy-trinity mmo before xiv and I found marauder really fun and easy. Plus most of the time you'll be off-tanking as your job anyway (warrior) so you'll be fine. I don't recommend starting as gladiator though, since you'll probably be required to always MT.

I started as a MRD. I thought it'd be cool to be able to tank and still DPS if I felt like it, and I had just come from WoW as a Paladin. To my surprise, FFXIV didn't have dual classing as its predecessor, and all classes/jobs were locked into a single role, enforced by the duty finder. Didn't matter though since I mainly wanted to tank.

A buddy started playing alongside a few others of us, he had similar tastes and also leveled a MRD. I switched to PLD to have something different, got both of the jobs to 50, then I quit after Labryinth because I remembered why I quit MMOs back in the day (Gear grinds bore the hell out of me, I enjoy doing content once or twice unless it's just really fun.).

I came back mid-HW, wound up leveling my PLD to 60, then my WAR, and then a DRK. My buddy stopped playing because while he loves raiding and doesn't mind a gear grind, he hates the main story with the white hot passion of a thousand suns and can't bring himself to go any further on it now that he's married and doesn't have a lot of time. Out of all the tanks, I like WAR the most, PLD is pretty cool too.

There's literally no difference between a Healer and a DPS.
There's no skill required since all you do is stand behind the tank and try to move health bars around. Both need to make sure they don't pull agro and don't stand in front of AOE attacks.
DPS moves health bars to the left, Healers move health bars to the right.

Gearing out is pretty fast and if you have a group of people with half a brain to play with clearing the hardest raids is maybe another 2-3 weeks tops. Then you're stuck waiting for months for the next tier. 2.0 had this problem, HW had it, and I don't see it getting better in SB especially after YoshiP's meme "give the players time to do other things" quote.

Only if you dont trust the healer. I'd have clemency on some of these plds and 3 AF stacks and these fuckers would still do it. Its better to leave it to the healer. GCD giving damage>GCD healing. Maybe with the other healers I'd understand but SCH is literally the ogcd clutch healer. All you are doing is wasting MP that could be used on the PLDs spell. A lustrate is instant.

I've been playing this game for about 3 years now and only unsubbed during the terrible period of 3.0 to 3.2. Otherwise the game offers a ridiculous amount of sidecontent no matter what the Blizzdrones will tell you.
