Then the multiplayer got sold as a separate game, Warband.

There was no "early access", it was a case of forever in beta, a very modern idea back then, that has since taken root.

I specifically remember singleplayer sieges being like this...

1. You fight enemies until they are out.
2. Combat resets, text screen.
3. You fight the enemies who were only knocked out in the past fight, not killed, in the courtyard.

Well in Warband after you've physically taken the walls, you have probably already killed the enemy.
Hard to take the walls (not contest, but proper take them) if there are people there. Not even a matter of skill, you just can't fucking move through the masses of defenders.

Not sure how it effects the keep stage, I assume it'll have more enemies but will be like in warband, and then when you win the defeated army will run or be taken prisoner.

Taking the walls is easier in Bannerlord.
A few times when I was playing Warband I had my whole army inside the walls just camped out in front of the enemy spawn point. Had to wait around for a good 10 minutes before it moved to Keep stage.

Those features are somewhat in mods, but executed like shit. There's no good mod that gives you good and precise control of your troops, allowing you to manage their control groups on the fly during battle, carefully reposition select units and such, mods just add more commands to the regular menu. I've never seen a mod doing city razing/construction well either.

Obviously it'd be sped up, like everything in Warband. I mean damn, you can loot a town and it'll be resettled within a week, and a shitfarmer peasant can become a knight of the highest order in a couple of days. Kids would grow to adults in a year or so.

Easy to implement.

Host is the leader, the rest are party members, like NPC companions.
On the strategic map, one person is the leader and moves the party, the others can draw on the maps or use chat to communicate, ping at things, etc. Just DOTA2's map functionality basically, super simple stuff.
On the tactical map, everyone is playing their own character, moving around town or fighting in combat. And before combat, the leader (host) can assign different troops to the different players to command in the battle.

So you are like observers with limited interactivity during the strategic map sections, you can still check stats, party members, look around the map, etc, just not move the party directly.
And on the tactic maps you can control your own character, as if you were playing singleplayer, except you can't leave this map before everyone else also is.

Not sure why people are hyped. Melee combat is atrocious, there is no weight, no should bashing, no shield bash, no proper use of shields, no throwing pommels, or halfswording, no charge weight like horses. They stop at any collision.
