You get infinite continues in NG1 and 2 so there's no excuse for failure. NG3 US changed it to have you take double damage and limit you to (I think) 5 continues. Japan version is infinite with normal health.

That's what ninja means. Ninja = a samurai going on a stealth mission of some sort. All the so-called "ninja" games people keep listing are just samurai games. A Japanese medieval warrior goes on a rampage and kills hundreds in open combat. This has nothing to do with the concept of ninjas.

You can behave like a ninja in MGS. You can sneak, you can hide in things like barrels, you can use camo to blend in, you can silently assassinate opponents etc. That's ninja. Dressing up in black and carrying a sword into battle is not.

Thief is cool but aside from rope arrows the movement is kinda shit. I am looking for games where you act like a ninja, meaning you're stealthy, fast, use gadgets, all of that stuff. If the whole thing stars a stereotypical ninja then even better, but it's really the gameplay I want, not just the looks.
