No, retards, that happens ONLY if you choose to shoot Ash, which coincidentally puts the meter at 0, but it's just an indicator. You can try to get it as low as possible with every other dickish action towards Ash and she'll never kill Chris unless he "shot" her

Problem is: it only works as an indicator because the player has no way of dynamically changing relationships. All the points in which relationships can change (and the amount in which they change) are already predetermined by the devs. If the game had a "free talk" function, it would work, because different players could have different levels at the same moment.
I read somewhere that having high/low relationships "unlocks" more dialogue options, like if Matt and Emily have a high enough relationship, Matt can use "negotiate" whenever she gets bitchy. But we're back at square one: It's not because of a dynamic change but instead because of specific choices the player made
