What is your favorite control format for sidescrollers and

I like to bind dash to Start, and jump to Y, so I can do a dash jump with a horizontal thumb sweep. Shoot on any of the right side shoulder buttons is perfect.

they're all trash setups, setup 1 only needs dashing on R for it to be good

This, except dashing on L. That way your left hand handles most of the mobility and right is actions.

Setup 4, with jump on A, and sword on B. The Megaman Zero way.

I've actually seen people bind directional movements to face buttons and everything else on the d-pad, I think it comes from playing on PC a lot.

Been a while since I played MMX4, but did the PS1 games have the same setup as the SNES ones?

What if the game has weapon switching? I can't imagine putting that anywhere other than the shoulder buttons.

Is Shantae somewhat similar to MM Zero? Been thinking of getting it as I'm a fan of the latter.
