The first one was ruined by the fact you couldn't turn off that shaky cam shit and the fact the entire game was a series of QTE's and ambushes.
They fixed most of that in the second one but they recycled the plot and you only got 6 tombs to raid, all of which could be done in about 10 minutes each.
Great graphics, shit game.

Platforming is completely on rails and as it is, it is not needed. Tomb raiding is actually fun and the crafting and minor rpg elements are good additions to the gameplay.
But the biggest improvement are the battles. Old Tomb Raider games have horrible fights.

There was a time when Tomb Raider was my favourite franchise. The reboot was just boring though.

It had zero cool bosses (I'd expect 4-8), zero cool locations (I'd expect 3-4), no co-op mythology (I'd expect some) and the most absolutely soulless and bland gameplay out there.

It had literally nothing I liked about the old games.
