In Halo i would always shoot the face off every flood i killed so their face wouldn't turn any more ugly.

I also did this with on other Flood i left alive, but shot the arms off as well so they would follow but never hurt me, so i would befriend those ones.

Back in like pokemon diamond in 5th grade I had a team of stacked legendaries, when facing random in game trainers I would switch out all my pokemon so that the in game trainer knew what pokemon I had.

Yes, I find the storytelling and directing during the cutscenes to be quite good, and, especially in IV and V, there's a lot of subtext behind the dialogue and a good eye for diction, and there's a lot of dialogue to hunt down, as unlike the 3D GTAs, characterization in IV and V doesn't end with the first playthrough of the main story; there are multiple sets of mission dialogue, and further characterization is parceled around the open world for you to find via the side activities. I find it really fun to hunt down that characterization and connect the dots between the reveals in the side content and the main plot, and it all very often becomes something substantial.

I like to play nice at first, then after I beat the game and have a good idea of what happens, I start an evil run where I take advantage of that knowledge.

I always name my pokemon, even the garbage-mons that I'm getting just to fill out the pokedex. Outside of very specific circumstances (ex. Hawlucha clearly being based on a luchador, so he'd naturally have a stage name) I always give them "human" names as well. I also tend to stay consistent with the ones I use across generations (ex. All my Pikachus are named Joel, all my Mawiles are named Ashley, all my Gastlys are named Kyle, etc.) The only exception is legendaries which I never name.

If the game has difficulty settings that can be changed at any time, first time i play on normal but when i get to the final boss i change it to very hard

Playing a rogue character I immerse myself in the experience by brooding in my dark room where only a mere monito-I mean candle, bares my stoic, emotionless visage

Entering towns, I immediately turn off my default sprint state, so that all the townsfolk may see death inching towards them. Once I enter an inn, and my game doesn't crash or freeze on the loading screen, I find the farthest, darkest corner and gaze upon the oblivious folk going about their pointless lives.

They all respect me, fear me, and know that they're all beneath my attention, just like my classmates.

Even though this entire facade just has me begging "Notice me, notice me I'm different!!!" in the inner depths of my mind, hoping my crush would one day notice me but in reality I'm just the super creepy shy kid in her class.

When I played Yakuza 5 and got to the part where Shinada finds out his entire life is a lie I just sat in a bar for like an in-game week and did literally nothing but drink until I either ran out of money or the bartender cut me off and did the baseball sidestory.

Like others before, I change into casual clothes in Skyrim, but only in player owned homes.

I use the take notes mod to write in my characters journal. I would write what they would write in reaction to the day's events. The furthest I've gotten is about 30 days. My favorite so far is a vampire argonian who was turned after he saved morthal from vampires. I wrote him as kind and hesitant at first but ended up powerful and confident as a result of his vampirism changing his mind.

I move the camera in a way that a persons head would move. I would flinch or jerk in the direction my character was hit or I would crouch down and put my camera down if he was laying on the ground.

I edited Derkeethus to be one of those bara argonians people occasionally post whenever one of my characters romanced him.

Undead are literally unable to die. Piercing them just nakes a hole but they keep coming. Blunt weapons destroy the head or limbs through blunt force trauma. Slashing weapons need to be accurate to decapitate or dismember. Undead are already rigid and slow so cold doesnt affect them. If anything it slows decay.

On impulse I always reload after a kill, even if the weapon is something like an LMG and still has hundred of rounds left with a really long reload time, gets me killed a lot

I always top off on ammo any time I can, even if it's just one bullet

I sometimes feel bad for my character so in any game where they get tired from running I'll stop and let them fully catch their breath. When I was little I used to leave Mario in the Castle in Mario 64 so he could rest up while I used the bathroom. I always like to keep the first item with me the entire game and use it to finish off the final boss no matter how difficult it is. For example I carried the first dagger all the way through Morrowind and in Pokemon my starters always keep their first attack through the whole game and I always make sure it's the finishing blow on the champion. I actually enjoy roleplaying in RPGs and attempt to make backstories for my character (if the game allows me freedom to do so and isn't like TW3 where it pigeonholes you into good (character) and bad (character)). The most recent one I did was Bloodborne. I created an old doctor character who I RP'd had some form of amnesia and some strange trouble in his past. He was mostly arcane based and I made sure he always had as much insight as possible without spending a lot of it. By the end I had him realizing that he was an old student of Willem's who had gone to Cainhurst and lived there for a while, eventually witnessing the massacre and barely escaping with his life. By the end I had him become pretty obsessed with his search for knowledge, and had him take over for Gehrman, thinking that was the true way to the truth. He never learned the absolute truth though (because I didn't have the dlc at the time). When I did buy the DLC, I made a second female character who was supposed to be a sentient doll he created that came to life when he took over, and she went to the nightmare in an attempt to free him. She also found the cords and did what he couldn't by ascending and defeating the Moon Presence. I also did some other things like make sure he only wore Byrgenwerth student clothes and plain weapons (like the cain/pistol) in the nightmare areas, and had her run through the next few playthroughs as fast as possible, as though it was a fever dream she was aware was repeating endlessly due to her godlike knowledge.

Oh god here we go. I suffer from OCD and have since I was a kid, but it was undiagnosed until I was 20. Some of the things I did in games were straight up ulillillia tier.

I had a pokemon fire red run where I decided from the very beginning that I had to catch both male and female versions of every pokemon possible. (I used my sister's leaf green to get all male and female starters. legendaries and certain pokemon didn't count since they're genderless.)

The second rule was that every pokemon had to be the exact same level before I could move on. Any new route was a designated leveling spot and all male and female pokemon were trained to the same level.

I ended up decimating every gym with very heavily over-levelled pokemon but I didn't stop because I was obsessed with creating a "perfect" file.

My save file was nearly 450 hours before I even hit victory road. I never even beat the elite 4 because I was obsessed with grinding everything to level 50 to match my legendary birds. The save battery ended up dying before I could complete the run.

Not going to lie, I was 14 years old and cried like a bitch when it happened.

Don't talk to me about how I got into Disgaea after that. Those were dark times.

I make up lyrics for tunes in video game music.

In Mario 64 on the first level I would just repeat "s'il vous plaît, en français!" to the tune of the music, even though I don't speak french.

Also in the "Hog Wild" level of Crash bandicoot I would sing "PIGGY PIG PIG, PIGGY PIG PIG!"

I religiously reserve ~30 minutes of every sitting (even if I only plan to play for like an hour or some shit) just to do some sort of suicide run where I see how long I can last doing something that would inevitably get me killed in a normal playthrough. I learn more about the game this way.

I wish dearly that video game AI was better and more responsive, so that NPCs actually cared about stuff like what you were wearing or when you jump up on the table and knock shit over.

And, in general, so you could have meaningful relationships with AIs.

in mountain blade I always let my men rest in a town or friendly stronghold at night if I can and aren't accompanying a war party
if the party suffered high casualties recently or has been campaigning for long time we sometimes stay a whole day or two in a town on leave while I fuck around in the arena or in the castle
