They consistently mix it up in this game with vehicle sections, puzzles, new mechanics like the gravity gun and the antlion pheromones and even throw in some platforming sections for good measure. I hate this argument, especially because it's always used in lieu of describing any actual good qualities of HL2. Seinfeld can stand up on it's own even today because it's genuinely well written and funny, but HL2fags seem to just admit that their game is shit if you didn't play it on release, which leads me to believe that it was always shit and HL2fags are just knee deep in nostalgia over a tech demo. HL2 may have a lot of variety and technology in it but even it's own fanbase struggles to explain what it actually does well.

The shooting is weak. It feels far better in Far Cry or FEAR, and those games don't have stupid puzzles that kill the pacing and are there to stretch out the length of the game.
