My rule is to wait for the total cost of must-have exclusives to match the cost of the console itself. For a brand new console, this usually ends up being about 18 months, or two E3 conferences later. For upgraded consoles like we're seeing this gen, I guess it could be a bit sooner.

I don't know why the OP isn't just deciding based on preferred controller. The XboneX will be more powerful, but does he prefer that style of controller or a PS style one? Not to mention what your friends are playing on, if you actually play with them. It just seems like so many things should be obvious to a purchaser that they wouldn't need to ask /v/ any of this.
